The Western Australia Choy Lee Fut Association has been under the instruction of Sifu James Lui since 2005 and runs as a not-for-profit incorporated association, with a purpose of teaching Choy Lee Fut Kung Fu, Lohan Qigong, and traditional Chinese Lion Dance to its dedicated students. The school seeks to develop martial arts in line with traditional martial values and the code of ethics applied by the International Chan Family Choy Lee Fut, as handed down from the Founder of our style. Sifu James Lui started learning Choy Lee Fut in 1986 in Sydney with Sifu Chen Yong Fa (陳永發), before beginning his role as an instructor in 1989. In 1992 he moved to Perth, bringing traditional southern Chinese Lion Dancing theory with him. The history of Choy Lee Fut in Western Australia goes back to the 1960s when brothers Sifu David Lacey and Sifu Vince Lacey established the Buk Sing Choi Lay Fut (北勝蔡李佛) school in Perth. Sifu David Lacey's senior student, Sifu Frank Riggio, inherited the school in the early 1990s and joined forces with Sifu James Lui when he arrived in Perth. The scope of knowledge brought by Sifu James Lui saw the school expand to become the Western Australia Choy Lee Fut Kung Fu, Lohan Qigong and Lion Dance Association. |
